Service call

A service call is a dealer's on-site technician visit to diagnose or repair a device.

A service call is a scheduled or emergency visit by a copier or office-technology dealer's field technician to diagnose, repair, or maintain a printer, copier, or multifunction device (MFP) at the customer's site. Each call is logged and tracked to resolution, and is typically counted or billed against a service or managed-print contract.

In context

Service calls are the core unit of a dealer's field-service operation. Dispatch speed, parts availability, and first-time fix rate drive both cost and customer satisfaction, and repeat calls on the same device usually signal a deeper hardware, supply, or usage problem worth catching earlier.
