SLA compliance
SLA compliance is the share of tickets handled within the response and resolution targets set in a service level agreement.
SLA compliance is the degree to which a support team meets the response and resolution targets defined in its service level agreement. It is calculated conceptually as (tickets handled within target) / (total tickets subject to the target) over a period.
An SLA usually sets time commitments, such as a first response within a set window or a resolution within a set window, often varying by priority. Compliance can be measured separately for each commitment, so a team might track response compliance and resolution compliance as distinct figures rather than blending them.
In context
SLA compliance is how teams prove they are meeting the promises made to customers or, in internal IT settings, to the rest of the business. It turns a service commitment into a measurable, reportable number that leadership and clients can hold the team to.
Teams use it to prioritize work, since tickets approaching a breach need attention first, and to identify where targets are unrealistic or where capacity falls short. Breaking compliance out by priority and channel shows whether misses cluster in a specific area that needs a fix.
